Policy Matters: New York's Energy Future

Wednesday, April 14, 2027 (8:00 AM - 10:00 AM) (EDT)

Description

Energy availability, reliability, and affordability have dominated policy conversations in recent years and remain critical to the future success of our region and state.

You’re invited to a Policy Matters event on Wednesday, April 14, featuring subject matter experts and legislative leaders for a timely discussion on how Governor Hochul and the New York State Legislature are working to address these concerns through meaningful changes to state policy.

Panelist information coming soon.

In the FY27 New York State Budget, changes to New York’s 2019 Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (CLCPA) were advanced with the goal of helping rein in rising electric bills impacting New Yorkers and businesses, while keeping the state on a path toward a cleaner, more sustainable energy grid.

Alongside continued investments in our power system, Greater Rochester Chamber and our partners are actively monitoring and advocating for an energy future that balances New York’s climate goals with the economic needs of employers, residents, and communities.

Join us to learn more about:

  • Will these changes make a meaningful difference in electric bills?
  • What next steps are needed to ensure New York has a reliable energy grid that can not only keep the lights on, but also support economic growth?
  • How can we ensure wind and solar power remain part of the solution in the current federal landscape?
  • What role could the Governor’s proposed nuclear expansion play in New York’s energy future, and where does that proposal stand today?

Please register by Tuesday, April 6. No refunds will be issued after this date

About Policy Matters

With so much political activity at the local, state, and federal levels, keeping track of the complexities and nuances of each moving part can be difficult. Greater Rochester Chamber's advocacy team works 24/7/365 to keep up-to-date on it all. One of the ways in which we convey our findings to members is through the Policy Matters series.
